WordPress acting weird? Just hit refresh.

December 15, 2020

There’s been another major release of WordPress (5.6) which includes a more recent version of jQuery (some code that makes things work on your website and in the back-end). This has caused layout problems for a small amount of users when they’re attempting to edit pages but it’s an easy fix.

If your admin area isn’t working as you’d expect after a WordPress update just hit the refresh/reload button on your browser’s address bar. This should fix it. If not, try a “hard refresh” which differs depending on your browser and device:

On Windows machines:

Chrome : Hold down CTRL and click the reload button or (CTRL + F5)

Firefox : Hold down CTRL then press the F5 key, or hold CTRL, SHIFT then press R

Internet Explorer : Please don’t use Internet Explorer (if you insist, it’s CTRL and F5, or CTRL and click reload)

On Macs:

Chrome or Firefox : Hold down SHIFT and hit the reload button or hold down CMD ⌘, SHIFT, then press R

Safari : Hold down SHIFT and click the reload button or hold down CMD ⌘, OPTION ⌥ then press R

Hopefully your WordPress admin is now back on track.
